jim ‘n nick’s bar-b-q – destin, FL

We usually like to discover new restaurants in our travels, but this is an old favorite that we couldn’t pass up. It’s a shame this is the nearest location, and it’s more than 2 hours away. (They would make a killing in Mobile.)

I usually go for the the pulled pork when trying a new BBQ place. But since I’ve had (and enjoyed) the pulled pork at Jim ‘N Nick’s before, I decided to try the brisket on sourdough ($8.50) with mac-n-cheese. The meat was cooked/smoked well, and the sourdough was definitely a nice touch. Everything went together well.

Nikki got the Piggy Potato ($8.50), pictured here. I only had a taste after the fact, so I can only guess how good it was when it was hot and fresh. It’s a baked potato filled with BBQ pork… How could it be bad?

Lemon pie, coconut pie, banana pudding… They all sounded good, but when we’re winding down a meal at Jim ‘N Nick’s, we want one thing: chocolate pie ($3.75). The waitress didn’t list it right off hand, so I had to ask, and I’m glad I did. It was great as always.

We’ll definitely be back… Still haven’t had Jim ‘N Nick’s ribs, breakfast, burgers… Yeah, we’ll be back.
